Wrestling Camp

By: Emmett Wagenaar

On April 24th, 2024, Thomas Bischoff hosted a wrestling camp for ages 6 through 14. It went from 4:00-7:00 pm. Nine kids showed up, and several students showed up to help, including Mark Nusom, Jackson Gaul, Josh Crowel, and Chris Bischoff, the high school wrestling coach. The camp’s primary purpose was to teach kids how to wrestle and to learn if they wanted to wrestle in the future. Multiple moves were taught, such as the double leg takedown, single leg takedown, inside leg trip, gator roll, far knee far ankle breakdown, arm chop breakdown, the half nelson pin, and many others.

The kids loved the camp, and several wanted to keep wrestling because they found it very exciting to get to learn all the ways to toss and pin people. Josh Crowell participated and helped coach, “It was pretty fun. Thomas and Mark did a great job teaching moves and giving guidance when people made mistakes. It was a great experience for the kids to get an idea of what wrestling is like”. With that, I would again like to thank Thomas Bischoff, who Is a multiple-time state placer with over ten years of experience in the sport, for hosting this learning experience for some of the younger Regis St. Mary students.
