Turkey Vs. Ham
By: Arlyn Birkholz
Is Turkey better than Ham, or is Ham better than Turkey? This is a very challenging question that many face when it comes to Thanksgiving. In my opinion, Ham is better. This is because it tastes better, is moister, and is much different from the generic turkey everyone else makes for Thanksgiving. Plus, my Grandparents make some delicious ham! Comparing this to my class, though, it is about half and half. For example, Rook said ham because “it is very good when it is warm, and it is delicious with gravy on top.” Lucas and Christian liked ham, but the girls mainly chose turkey. This was not a very big poll, but it is a good reference. According to RepublicWorld.com, 675 million pounds of turkey are consumed in the US on Thanksgiving. According to triblive.com, 24.75 million pounds of ham are eaten on Thanksgiving in the US. I think this is because people not only like the taste of turkey but eat turkey because it is a tradition. In all, I believe Ham is the best. If people eat more turkey, who cares? More ham for me!
