The Stations of the Cross at Regis
By Maddie Hendricks
At Regis, there is a small chapel in the dome home to many amazing sacred art pieces. The chapel is where high schoolers attend mass, morning or afternoon prayer, or daily worship before a sports game. Inside and outside, it is beautiful because of its artwork, especially the Stations of Cross. The Stations are found hanging on the walls inside the chapel. Each picture represents the sufferings that Jesus Christ endured. The artwork was painted by Regis alumni and hung around the chapel. They did this so that they could recognize all that Christ went through for us.
There are 14 paintings of the 14 stations. These paintings are one of the most important sacred arts that we have at Regis. It is so important because they show what Jesus did to save us. If He hadn’t suffered, then He never would have risen and saved us from sin. This is why the Stations of the Cross are my favorite and other’s favorite artwork in the school. Alexa Gough said, “Every time I go into the Chapel, the Stations of the Cross reach out to me.” The paintings of the Stations make the chapel even more beautiful than it already is.
