The Miracle of Regis’ Chapel
By: Liam McSorley
Here at Regis, we have an oratory known as the Christ the King Chapel in the Dome. This place is a small, quiet, and beautiful room where adoration often occurs as part of the Theology Class. The dome was originally a library for the first forty-five years of the school’s existence, and after a while, it was partially turned into a computer lab. After a couple of years, the room was just a computer lab, and the chapel wasn’t used, as they had Mass in the Student Center. After having Mass in the student center for a while, the faculty realized that the Chapel needed to be the center of any Catholic School. Mr. Bauer, Patty Keudell, and Dave Schumacher started a fundraising campaign to fix the chapel. This campaign was very successful, raising around thirty thousand dollars. They used the money to fix up the Chapel, and that’s how it got the look we see today.
While the room can open to the rest of the dome, the small main room has an altar and the Stations of The Cross made by the Regis class of 2011-12. The rear wall of the chapel has small stained glass windows dotting it, in all of the colors of the rainbow. Keith Kintz made the small stained glass window by the main door. The window unintentionally has the outline of Jesus on the cross in the center. Overall, the chapel is a great place to spend some quiet time, either for Adoration or just to escape from the hustle and bustle of today’s world—special thanks to Mr. Bauer for providing almost all of the information for this article.
