The 2023 Freshman Pilgrimage

On September 22nd the freshmen class went on their first retreat of this year. The class went on a Marian Pilgrimage in order to follow in the footsteps of Saint Pope John Paul II. They walked through the religious sites of Mount Angel with the purpose of mimicking the footsteps of Pope John Paul II. The dress code was the same as any other school day, and students were scheduled to arrive before 8:30, for this was the planned time of departure. Once the freshmen class arrived at FBYC at 9:00 morning prayer was done and they were divided into smaller groups. Snacks were provided for the students and doughnuts were offered. After snack, the class walked over to St. Mary Church at Mt. Angel in their small groups. Once the students arrived at St. Mary Church they did a Rosary which was led by the senior class members of the Evangelization Team that accompanied the freshmen. After this, the freshmen walked over to the Abbey Stations of the Cross where they also did prayers in their small groups.

The freshmen then walked over to the Abbey Church for noon prayer. After this, they ate lunch at the Guest House where they were given the chance to discuss the morning with their small groups. This marked the end of the pilgrimage for the freshmen class, and they were given the opportunity to go over to the Get Air Trampoline Park. The students were given an hour to spend at Get Air and departed sometime around 2:15 PM. They arrived at Regis at around 2:35 PM and waited out in the courtyard for the bell to ring. “It was very fun and enjoyable” are words that explain this day to a satisfying and fair extent which Alexa Gough used in doing
