Southern Hospitality

From November 17th-19th, Regis High School Theater performed Southern Hospitality, a play written by Jessie Jones Nicholas and Hope Jamie Wooten. These students have been working on this show since June and finally showed us how their hard work and dedication paid off. Throughout performance week, which we call “Hell week,” Anna Boedigheimer, Nicolas Kintz, and the cast and crew rehearsed long days and nights to make the show perfect. As a new crew member, I understand why it’s called “Hell week”!
The cast consists of Emma Hedrick as Rhonda Lynn Futrelle Lampley, Macy Silbernagel as Frankie Dubberly, Daisy Hernandez as Honey Raye Futrelle, Adelle Otter as Twink Futrelle, Marcus Hurst as Dub Dubberly, Amy Martinez as Geneva Musgrave, Adam Hilton as John Curtis Butner, Noah Koenig as Reynard, Haiden Mumey as GJ Dubberly Waverly, Alex Pelayo as Justin Waverly, Faith Hedrick as Aunt Iney, Aidan Klascius as Buck Strickland, and lastly Mya Schumacher as Ms. D. Dayva Davidson. There were also 29 crew members, with Cody Ditter as the stage manager.
The play is about the beloved Futrelle sisters, Rhonda Lynn, Frankie, Twink, and Honey Raye. When their hometown of Fayro, Texas, is in danger of disappearing, it is up to the sisters to save it from extinction. It is a comedy that demonstrates the personal impact of what a small community will do to help its town when in crisis.
The director, Anna Boedigheimer, wrote about the new students to the theater world “Most of them have not had a lead role with multiple lines, and I can tell you, it has been a long process working through all the nerves that come with putting oneself on the stage. It is not an easy task, and I could not be more proud of them for taking such a huge risk.” Ms. B thanks all the people to help make the play possible, and great job, Rams, for the outstanding performances.
As a crew member, I had so much fun over the one-and-a-half weeks. Even though the nights were long and we had to do a lot of “hurrying up and waiting,” as Ms. B calls it, I made many new friendships and had a great time. The performance nights were thrilling, and I’m glad I got to experience them with such a fantastic group of people.
These are some pictures of the performance nights. The first picture has Macy Silbernagel, Alex Paloyo, Faith Hedrick, and a tiny bit of Marcus Hurst and Daisy Hernadez. The second picture includes Noah Koenig on the left and Mya Schumacher on the right.
