Saint Mary track meet

By: Emmett Wagenaar

The Saint Mary Middle School students had a track meet on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Regis High School track. Some outstanding performances were James Hayes, who placed first in the 200 meters and got the best long jump distance; Lexi Lulay, who placed first in the 400 meters; and Franki Koehnke, who placed first in both the 800 and 1500 meter.
The competing schools that joined were Gervis, Mt. Angel, Jefferson, East Linn Christian, and Cascade View Christian. The boys placed fourth, and the girls placed third. The Regis track runners helped out at each event, making the meet go smoother and faster. Stuart Mclaughlin is a Regis student who helped with the long jump; here’s what he has to say about the middle school’s performance: “It was an enjoyable experience watching all the future high school track athletes jump And compete.” With that, a great job to all of the middle schoolers, and a thank you to Mrs Wiltsey for organizing the assistance from the track runners.
