Review of Freshmen Year
By MaryBeth Nusom
The 2022-2023 school year was an enjoyable and entertaining year where us freshmen were provided with opportunities to participate in school activities and events and grow as students. The year included fun events and opportunities that were new to us, such as honors classes, the bonfire, spirit week, school dances, weekly spirituality time, community lunches, theater productions, and the option to run for the high school student council. The community inside of Regis was a great experience that I’m sure many of us look forward to being a part of for the next three years.
Because the school was able to do a lot of things it couldn’t in the previous years, it was clear that all events were put on with dedication and passion for the student body. Homecoming was a great night where awesome memories were made. The best event I attended during my freshman year was the bonfire before homecoming. It was a great way to be with friends and allowed us to meet and talk to new people at the beginning of the year. The class of 2026 freshman representatives was Makenzie Schacher and Mylah Etzel. Both have done a great job representing the freshman and communicating the time, location, and details of school events.
Joining Regis also offered the class of 2026 freedom that allowed us to thrive in different ways. Academically students are offered more opportunities and more self-paced learning. Athletically we have been able to join great sports teams. Most freshmen also either helped with the musical or acted in it. New students have joined the freshman class during the 2022-2023 year. We were excited to meet them and see how they would uniquely add to our class. This was also the first year we had experienced finals and PSAT tests. Although both were nerve-wracking for the freshman class, we were well-prepared for both through the guidance of the staff and other students.
The class of 2026 freshman year was full of incredible events, both new and old. As well as athletic and academic chances few of us were previously given. All the students inside of Regis were welcoming and always succeeded in explaining anything when we needed guidance. Becoming high schoolers in this community will allow us to make the best of our high school careers. During the next three years of high school, I am sure we will continue to support the incoming classes the way we have been this year. I’m sure everyone in the class of 2026 is thankful to those who have sacrificed their time to make our freshman year as perfect as it has been.
