Regis Spring Cheer Clinic
By: Mary Hernandez
The Regis cheer team hosted its second cheer clinic for elementary school students this year. The clinic was a huge success!!. with 70 girls signed up, The fun-packed camp was split up into two days, the first with pre-kindergarten through third grade and then fourth through eighth grade. The activities included stretches with Addi and icebreaker games. The future Ram cheerleaders then learned basic cheer motions and positions with Karen and Reagan giving the girls a solid understanding of the basics of cheer. Next, the girls got to learn some of our favorite cheers with Lina, and me (BOOM, DYNAMITE, Down the floor) which they will get to perform at the next boy’s basketball game with us. Mya and Zerrell then taught them cheer jumps, toe touches, tucks, and front hurdlers. And of course, we can’t forget stunts, personally one of my favorites! Our little Rams learned how to stunt with each other safely and with the Regis cheer squad as well. We finished the day off with all of us teaching them the dance to go along with the cheers that they will be performing with all the cheerleaders at halftime. All of the girls had such an amazing time with one of the mini cheerleaders saying “I wish I could come tomorrow!” The Regis cheerleaders had such an amazing time and are very thankful for everyone who attended and can’t wait to see you all at the performance on Tuesday, February 7 during the boy’s varsity halftime. The cheer clinic was so successful, we cannot wait to host these wonderful events in the future.
Please enjoy these wonderful photos of the day. This includes a photo of Addi and me with our two younger sisters, Summer and Charlotte, who both attend St Mary’s and are in fourth grade.
