Regis Golf
By Logan Kirsch
The 2024 Regis Golf team had nine students come out this year and compete at the varsity level. (Rylan Bischoff, Lucas Koehnke, Jake Laube, Andrew Hawley, Logan Kirsch, Caleb Mayer, Fletcher Gould, Erik Silbernagle, Eli Silbernagle) Mr. Calvin Mayer returned as the golf coach. There were many opportunities for all the golfers, and JV even managed to win the McNary tournament. Everyone was able to play at the varsity level at some point during the season. Varsity was able to place first at the Agate Beach tournament, second at McNary, and finished fourth in the district, just missing a chance to go to the state tournament.
Throughout the season, there were many ups and downs, but we always kept in mind our coach’s motto that everything would be fine, “as long as you are having fun,” which is what I believe made this sport so special to many of us. Team Captain Caleb Mayer said this about the season, “It was a solid showing. I’m proud of all of the guys who showed up and gave it 100%. The season didn’t quite end how we wanted. However, there were lots of memorable moments. I am sure the team will continue to improve and have lots of success in years to come.” Overall, the golf team had lots of fun and made many great memories, thanks to our amazing coach and the camaraderie we formed throughout the season.
