Regis baseball

On May 7, 2024, the Regis Rams took on the Monroe Dragons in the first of a three-game series. Monroe, up to this point, was ranked second in 2A/1A Special District 3 and Regis was ranked first in 2A/1A Special District 3 play. Starting for the Rams was Bryson Nygren and for the Dragons, Blake Mattson was taking the bump. This was the first of Regis’ five-and-a-half game week. Even though it was a long drive out to Monroe, Regis started the game strong with a shutdown first and three runs to start the top of the second inning. Only from there was the game blown open by Regis. Monroe was held to no runs in the five-inning affair as the Rams rolled to a 13-0 victory marking their 12th win in a row.

Notable players in this victory were Bryson Nygren, who pitched a complete game no-hitter, his third this season and his third no-hitter in a row. He also reached base in every plate appearance he had during the day. Other notable moments were when Jacoby Bohnke had his first varsity hit as well as Benjamin Valladares-Cormier who swatted his second hit of the year. The Rams are looking to complete a series sweep over the Dragons by winning both games in their doubleheader on Friday, May 10.
