New Kids On the Block

The new school year at Regis means new students! September 6, 2023 was my very first day at Regis High School. Until last May, I didn’t even know about Regis High School. When I arrived at Regis, I didn’t know anybody here, and I knew for sure that everyone else would know each other. That was why I was terrified to come to this new school in the first place.

At the beginning of the first day of school, I just stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. I tried my best to not give up and let all of the bad thoughts come to my mind. I went ahead and tried to talk to other girls that I didn’t know. Luckily I connected with this one girl very well. We had a lot of stuff in common. Her name was Alexa Gough. Alexa and I have been friends ever since the first day of school. She encouraged me to go and join the cheer team. That made me want to make many more new friends.

Even after only two weeks, Regis made them realize how much the student body is a family. When you come in you get greeted with great big welcoming arms. They try to make you feel welcome here and try to make you feel less scared; Regis students and staff will start loving you as soon as you walk through those doors. “I definitely agree that this school is one big family,” said Alexa Gough. Regis is a new chapter in my life I’m looking forward to opening.
