My Thanksgiving

By Lily Jepsen

The day after Thanksgiving, my family goes out to search for a Christmas tree. My family is really big on Christmas, so we like to start it a little earlier. We start the day by getting Starbucks, and then we drive around the area going to different Christmas tree farms. We get a Christmas tree from a different store almost every year. We usually go through Aumsville and around Turner. Once we find one, we take it home and put it in our living room. We decide whether we want colored lights or white lights for our tree. Usually, we choose both. Sometimes, we have to cut the top of the tree to fit our ceiling. Then we turn on a Christmas movie to watch while we put up our tree. I usually help my dad hang Christmas lights around our house halfway through. In the past, we haven’t been able to reach the highest part of our roof, but in the last couple of years, we have used a bucket truck from my dad’s to hang the lights. After we are finished, we make a good dinner, and then once it gets dark, we finally look at the job well done.
