James Hayes’ Easter Tradition
By: James Hayes
Every year, my family gathers at my Uncle Mario’s house to celebrate together. It’s a special time when all my cousins, aunts, uncles, and anyone else who can come join in the fun. One of the best parts of the day is when all the older kids go out to hide colorful eggs for the younger kids to find. We’ve been doing this for many years, and it never feels old or boring. It’s a wonderful chance for us to catch up with cousins we don’t see often, making it feel almost like a little family reunion. There’s always laughter, games, and a lot of happy memories created every time we gather.
One thing I will always remember is the prized gold egg with the money, everyone wanted it. All the kids would intently look for it, and sometimes the older kids would participate just to get it. It adds even more fun and excitement to the day. Another one of the best parts of Easter is the amazing food we get to eat. Each family brings yummy treats and delights, and they all taste splendid. From the berry dessert to the warm rolls, every little trifle and dessert is significant. Yet all of these do not surpass that best part of all, when we all come together to form a circle, holding hands, praying. This is my favorite part because it shows us together as a family, honoring the Lord together as a family. This is my Easter tradition.
