Miotke Regis History
By William Miotke
Throughout the years the Miotke family has attended Regis High School repeatedly. Since the opening of the high school in 1963, the Miotke family has had students in the school. There have been countless members of the family that attended, but only one who has taught there.
The first Miotke to graduate from Regis High School was Carolyn Miotke, in 1965. Carolyn was the student body secretary of the student council, and sang in the 1964-1965 Regis glee club. Carolyn also was the prom queen of 1965. Caroyln went on to college and eventually married Tom Lulay, who was also in the class of 1965.
Ken Miotke was also one of the earlier Miotkes to graduate from Regis. Ken graduated in 1966, and in addition participated in many other activities. Ken Miotke was #44 on both the basketball and the football team of 1995-1996. Ken was also on the baseball team that won the first ever baseball state championship in Regis history. Ken was number 18 on the baseball team of 1966. Ken went on to become a maintenance supervisor after joining the national guard. He married fellow 1966 graduate Kathy Drescher. They had 3 kids, Beth, Darren, and Michael Miotke.
Michael Miotke was the youngest of Ken and Kathy’s three children. Mike Miotke graduated in 1998 and participated in football his senior year. After his time at Regis, Mike went to Oregon state for his undergraduate degree in engineering, and then went to Portland university for his masters degree in engineering. Mike married Regis graduate Mandy Ziglinski of the class of 1997.
Mandy Ziglinski went to Regis high school and graduated in 1997. She married into the Miotke family by marrying Michael Miotke, the youngest child of Ken and Kathy Miotke. But she was not finished at Regis high school yet. After high school she went to Western Oregon University for her undergraduate teacher’s degree to teach high school science, and went to Portland State University and Oregon State University for her master’s degree. Following that she went to Western University again to get her ESOL endorsement. She first began teaching at Mount Angel middle school and left in 2009 to stay home with her new child. After that she returned to Regis to begin teaching science in 2010 and left again in 2011 to stay with her second child. She continued teaching in 2017 and has been teaching to this day. She has a total of 17 years of teaching experience and 8 years of teaching just at Regis. She has three children, William, Henry, and Matthew Miotke.
William Miotke is the oldest of three children. His parents, Mike and Mandy Miotke have spent many years in the Regis community. William went to Highland pre-school in Stayton, Oregon. After that he went to St. Mary’s Catholic school for nine years, and upon finishing middle school went to Regis high school. Throughout middle school William participated at NSTC, a theater camp at Regis. At Regis High school William was involved in the fall play, the spring theater production, and arts night. William was also on the 2023-2024 Regis student body leadership council as a freshman representative. William is in the class of 2027, and has experienced firsthand the amazing community here at Regis.
Overall the Miotke family has attended Regis high school since the start. They are very involved in the community as well as having one member currently teaching at the school. Hopefully there will be many more Miotke family members attending Regis high school in the future.
