Men’s Basketball: Christmas Break

By: Lucas Koehnke

So far, the Regis men’s varsity team has started the season well, having a 5-4 record. In Ram’s first game, we beat the Jefferson Lions 84-55. Isaiah Koehnke had 35 points in that game, and Diego Aguliar had 28 points. In our second game, we beat Portland Adventist Academy 70-59 after being down by about ten points at halftime. The Rams had a tough match beating East Linn Christian Academy, winning 50-46. Regis played a great game on the defensive end holding East Linn to a 3-point first quarter. Regis was the only 2A school selected to play in the Capital City Classic. Over four days, they played challenging games against West Salem, South Salem, Silverton, and Sprague in four challenging tournament games. Although they lost all four games against these larger schools, it was a great learning experience. After the Capital City Classic, Regisbounced back and defeated Scio 85-40. The next day the Rams played Crosshill and beat them for the holiday tournament Championship 67-57. The boys’ basket team has high hopes for the rest of the season and is excited to play league in the Tri-River Conference.
