Jeld-Wen Business Field Trip
By: Cutler Nelson (Guest Reporter)
On September 17, 2022, the business class of Regis High School went to the Jeld-Wen facility in Stayton, Oregon. There they met Austin Stenger, their tour guide for the trip. They had a lot of fun touring the plant and seeing a functioning and real-live assembly line, the principles of product distribution, and facility management.
Not only did the class go to Jeld-Wen to see an assembly line, but they also created an assembly line of their own. With this assembly line, they shattered the school’s former record of twenty cars produced to thirty-two cars in forty-five minutes. After constructing their amateur assembly line, they had the opportunity to watch the movie Tucker: The Man and His Dream. This movie not only taught them about assembly lines used to manufacture automobiles but also how to run a successful business, both providing examples of what to do and what not to do. Finally, the movie delivered an excellent business philosophy: if someone can make an invention come to life, then there is no limit to how successful that person can become.
