Homecoming Hallways

This year the homecoming hallway themes were great. Coming in first place, to no one’s surprise, were the Seniors. Their theme was “campers,” which was a sight to behold. They brought real Christmas trees, branches, rocks, and marshmallows. Even blue plastic was laid across the floor to create a stream. The whole place was dark, and there were stars projected on the ceiling.  There were also tents and chairs and a picnic table. The Seniors truly earned first place.

The Juniors placed second for their “Cars” theme. When you walked into Junior’s hall, it was like walking into the “Cars” movie. Brown paper covered the walls with cut-out cacti to create a desert scene. The floor was turned into a road with black and yellow paper and orange cones on the side. What impressed me the most were the realistic cardboard replicas of characters Mac and Mater from the “Cars” movie.

Sophomores took third place with their theme as the Scare Floor from “Monster’s Inc.” They placed an actual door in the middle of their hallway with flowers on the front, replicating Boo’s door from the movie. Each locker was individually covered with paper to look like a door from the film. There were scattered toys over the ground to make it look like a bedroom. Finally, the Sophomores had a scoreboard featuring the Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen students.

In last place were the Freshmen. Our theme was “‘Merica”. Red, white, and blue streamers hung from the ceiling, and every other locker had a special patriotic decoration. We had balloons around doorways, and confetti covering the floor. We did not execute our theme as well as we could have, and we learned what to do better next year. Mylah Etzel says, “We should have more planning, a better theme, and better teamwork for next year.” Even though we lost, we enjoyed decorating our hall this year, and that’s what it’s all about.
