History of Regis article

By: Andrew Shine

I will be doing my History of Regis article on Amanda Shine, this article is about the feats and accolades accomplished by Amanda Shine. Not only did she achieve numerous accomplishments during her time at Regis, but she also built a small legacy after graduating. I’m going to go into depth about these accomplishments and the impacts they had on Regis. This article will go into depth about the Shine legacy at Regis. I will go over the leadership endeavors that she partook in, I will explain her sporting accomplishments, and I will go into detail about the other things she’s done to benefit the Regis community.

The first topic I will go over is her experience while being a part of the student council. During her time at Regis, she was a part of leadership throughout high school, this was one of the more important groups you could join while attending Regis. As a senior, she stepped it up a notch and achieved the role of student body president, the highest-ranking position available. In this role, she helped to solve issues with Regis, keep everybody posted on upcoming events, and keep the school in line.

While she was at Regis she participated in track, cross country, and cheerleading. She did hurdles in track, while in cross country she ran great distances and proved her athleticism by placing well consistently. These sports were good and entertaining, but cheerleading was the primary sport. She had a solid cheer team and found cheer to be her main passion. She didn’t accomplish much as a cheerleader but was an exceptional cheer coach.

While coaching cheerleading at Regis is where Amanda Shine built her legacy. After developing a love for cheerleading while in school, she returned to the sport as a young adult. She implemented more intense methods of cheerleading, as she conditioned her players and had them undergo long practices. She proved that these methods were successful after winning numerous. Her cheer team won state in the years 2006, 2008, and 2009, this was likely the best cheer team in Regis history. After some rough years with low numbers of cheerleaders, Regis is in the process of rebuilding the cheerleading program, with Amanda Shine being one of the coaches. There are 18 cheerleaders and the future is bright for the program.

Amanda Shine had a massive impact on Regis cheerleading and is one of the better coaches that the program has seen. She also was an excellent student council member and an even better student body president. She is a large part of the history of Regis and built a solid legacy at Regis. That is why she was selected for my History of Regis article.
