First League Track Meet

By: Hank Foltz
On April 10, Regis had its first official league track meet of the season, and overall, the team put in a solid performance. After talking with teammates about how things went, the most common challenge mentioned was the weather. Conditions were tough for many athletes. The throwing implements were slick, and the rain made visibility difficult for runners. Several other teams shared the same concerns. Even though the temperature hovered around 60 degrees, it felt less than ideal for competing.
Despite the weather, a few standout performances are worth recognizing. First up is Ian Pace, who ran the 100 meter dash in a time of 14.99 seconds, a new personal record. James Hayes also had a stellar day, taking first place in the 200 meter dash with a blazing time of 25.36 seconds. Lastly, Isaiah Koehnke placed in the top five in one of the toughest events, the 400 meter dash.
The entire track team is already looking forward to the next meet at East Linn Christian on April 17. With better weather in the forecast, we’re excited to see what’s in store.
