Aaron Judge Breaks American League Single-Season Home Run Record Previously Set By Roger Maris

On Tuesday at the Globe Life field, Aaron Judge, better known as “The Judge,” hit his 62nd home run, breaking the previous record set by Roger Maris at 61 home runs. Both Aaron and Roger Maris were players for the New York Yankees, making it seem like the Yankees will have a tight grip on this record for a while. According to Aaron Judge, “He had a good feeling off the bat” and was glad to see the ball in the fan’s glove. However, it has not been going so well for the fan who caught the ball, as he has started many controversies over whether or not he should give the ball back to Aaron Judge. The fan decided to keep the ball, although many tried to convince him to sell it to them. The fan is now left with a significant decision on whether or not to sell the ball. Currently, the ball is worth 2 million dollars. Still, it is expected to lower in price as the season continues and Aaron Judge hits more home runs.

Another central point of this topic is how Roger Maris’ son was there and was able to witness Aaron Judge breaking his father’s record. Roger Maris’ son was sitting next to Aaron Judge’s mother, and they both hugged when Aaron hit the ball that broke the record. What was nice about this was how it gave a sense of closure to Roger Maris’ story and was like a transition of power but, in this case, a world record.
