Harper Stoops Family’s Easter Tradition

By: Harper Stoops

During Easter, a family tradition I have is always going to our grandparent’s house after mass. Every year I can remember, we have gone to their house for lunch and dinner. We wake up Sunday morning and go to mass at St. Mary’s in Mt. Angel as a family, then we go home for a quick second and then go to their house. We always spend the whole day there playing games, having food, and just enjoying each other’s company. We also have an easter egg hunt for my youngest sister who is seven years old and who looks forward to it all year round.

Every couple of years for Easter, our grandpa will make his ribs for lunch or dinner. He only makes his spare ribs maybe two or three times a year which is why it makes them even better. They take a very long time to make with him usually spending the whole day before preparing them and the only time during that day when he isn’t preparing them he is sleeping or it is when we all go to mass on Easter morning. Everyone in my family enjoys my grandpa’s cooking and it is part of our Easter tradition we have.
