Hunting

My name is Hayden Lulay and I love to go hunting at a place called the Ochoco National Forest. It’s a few minutes out of Redmond. I love hunting with my parents, siblings, aunt and uncles, and cousins.       

When I go hunting we usually go deer hunting in October, which is when deer season starts. I enjoy exploring the woods and building forts. I also love hunting at about 5 a.m., when it’s freezing. It’s always about 30℃ in the morning. I shot a buck there, it wasn’t that big, but it had horns and that’s what matters. It’s always a fun time going there with my cousins. We ride pickup trucks everywhere. My aunt was driving her car there and I spotted my first buck that I shot. It was just lying down in the grass resting when I pulled the trigger. It was cool to catch my first buck. There are many different types of rifles; there is one rifle that’s specifically for deer hunting. The rifle that I usually hunt for deer with is called a bolt action rifle. The bolt action rifle has little recoil but if your shoulders are bad you should try to find a different rifle that doesn’t have much recoil.
