On May 16, 2024, the Regis Rams took on the Central Linn Cobras on the road in a doubleheader to finish off both teams’ league play. Central Linn sported a league record of 7-9 and a total record of 11-13 coming into the day. The Rams had a 16-0 league record at this point and a 19-4 record in total. Regis, who had already clinched the league title that Monday, was looking to finish the season strong with a league record of 18-0. Central Linn had already been eliminated from postseason contention so they had nothing to lose and were looking to give the Rams their first league loss. Starting game one for Regis was Korben Schumacher and Cody Dickerson for the Cobras.

Game one was a slow one with neither team being able to put up many runs. By the sixth inning, the score was 6-6 as both teams struggled to pull ahead. The game went into extra innings and the seventh went by with no one scoring. Not until the eighth did Regis break it open scoring six runs. Owen Eaton shut down the Cobra’s offense in the bottom half of the inning to secure a 12-6 victory. Luke Castillo came up big in game one with a three-run homer over the left-field fence in the top of the eighth inning. Game two was much different as it was all Regis from the get-go. The game was called early in the sixth inning due to the Rams having a 10-run lead which resulted in a Regis victory 10-0.

This game marked the end of the Rams’ regular season as they now look to make a run for the 2A state title. Regis finished the league season with a record of 18-0 becoming the undefeated league champions in District 3. Regis head coach Kyle Baker after the game said “I had a lot of faith in you guys (the team) at the beginning of the season. I believed this year we would win the league title, and you guys exceeded my expectations.” The Rams are awaiting the standings cutoff on Thursday, May 16th, to see where they stand in the playoff bracket.
