Track and Field

On Thursday, April 25, the Regis track and field team went to Salem to compete in the meet at Salem Academy. This meet consisted of six teams: Chemawa, Blanchet Catholic, East Linn Christian, Salem Academy, Willamette Valley Christian, and Regis. The season is rapidly ending, and only four meets are left until districts. The competition is ramping up, with everyone going for personal records. The weather was cloudy and windy for the meet in Salem, good for throwers and bad for runners.

The Regis men got 4th with a score of fifty-five, and the woman also finished 4th with eighty. There were terrific performances, with Julius Pokorny getting second in the 400m, Noah Richter getting third in the triple jump, Luke West placing third in Javelin, Tyler Schumacher placing third in the Pole vault, and Caleb Blish getting third in 110m hurdles. There were also astonishing performances by the women, with Clara Persons placing first in the 200m and the 400m, Kaylee Silbernagel placing second in the shot put, Kaila Hayes placing first in the long jump, Adelle Otter winning the javelin and Daisy Hernandez winning the 100m hurdles and placing second in the 300m hurdles. When asked about his experience in the meet, Wiliam Mioke, a hurdler, said, “It was freezing, and the wind was stiff to run against.
