Cinderella the Musical
By Andrew Hawley
Regis High School had auditions for their new Musical Cinderella on Dec 4th and 6th, but showings won’t start till around March 2024. It’s going to be based on the 2013 Broadway version of Cinderella, not like the 1950s. Instead of Christopher and Cinderella, their names will be Topher and Ella. The audition on the 4th was for acting and in the Regis student center from 6-8 pm. The 6th was the singing audition in the Dome at Regis from 3:15-6 pm. The people who auditioned got a 4-minute singing slot and chose a song that best fit their voice’s range. Each person would also be placed in a group and act out a short scene. If Ms. B liked the spot you were auditioning for, she would have you say some more of the lines of that character. Students were able to watch others audition while waiting for their next scene.
I think this musical will be a good one and lots of people should go watch it. Ms. B is great at casting and bringing in kids to participate in the musical. She encourages all the students to join and makes it super fun.
The students were cast in the following parts: Trevon Kuenzie as Prince Topher, Sophie Wagner as Ella, Abby Searles as Marie (Fairy Godmother), Atziri Hernandez as Madame (Evil Stepmother), Abby Kintz as Charlotte (Evil Stepsister), Daisy Hernandez as Gabrielle (Evil Stepsister), Cutler Nelson as Sebastian (Topher’s Lord Chancellor), Thomas Bischoff as Lord Pinkleton (Sebastian’s Second-In-Command), and Noah Koenig as Jean-Micheal (Peasant & Friend of Ella). The rest were cast as ensemble members with small roles.
