Christ the King Fridays
By Ivanna Palacios
On September 15th Regis High School had their first Christ the King schedule of the school year. On this day the school got a taste of this year’s first exploratory classes The students were able to choose their electives from a selection of “Shakespeare and Film,” “Introduction to Criminal Justice,” “Chopped,” “Elements of Design,” “Field Biology,” “Golf/Bowling,” and “Regis Cafe.” Students started school at 9 AM by going to their first period which was “exploratory” in which they spent two hours in their electives. After this, the students went to spirituality as their next period, which was spent in Mass. After Mass, the students were given a bunch of burgers, potato salad, chips, cookies, and drinks.
The following thing on the schedule was Advisory, and students were able to meet with their class and have some time to talk about their theme for homecoming week or any other concerns that their class might need to talk about. Once the Advisory period was over, the Academic period was next. Each student was given the chance to talk to teachers about any concerns that they might have had about their class. Academic period was over early and the remaining time was given to holding a pep assembly. The student body met on the bleachers over at the football field and each sports team was called out in order to give recognition to them. After this students were told their Wellness groups, and activities that had been planned were played out. The school day ended at three. Overall it was a fun and productive day.
