Freshmen Orientation Day

By Ivanna Palacios

On September 5th the freshmen class had their first day at Regis High School. On this day the freshmen got a chance to get an orientation to high school and where  able to meet their new teachers, their new classmates, and experience their class schedule. The Class of 2027 was joined by the school’s student council, who were kind enough to help us settle into our new school. The freshmen class was able to  visit their classrooms and were given enough time to get to know their teachers. The day included  a BBQ where hot dogs, cookies, chips, and potato salad were served. After this we were given an hour to play games that were laid out, such as nine square, badminton, bumper ball, bean bag toss, and spikeball.

Once the activities were done the freshmen were brought into the gym where the student council taught us the fight song and the cheerleaders taught us some of the cheers. Afterwards we were led to the student center building where the student council answered questions that we had about how the school works, being in student council, participating in activities like sports, or just any questions that we had about school. We then ended the day by putting our school supplies in our lockers. . Overall it was a helpful day for the freshmen to get settled in, as well as familiar with the school, our teachers, our classmates, and schedules. Ameilia Woods summed up the opinion of most of the class remarking, “I liked being able to spend a day with my classmates before school started.”
