The History of Mr. Bauer
By: Jake Laube
Before Mr. Bauer came to Regis, he graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso. He grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and went to a Catholic high school which is now called Marist. During his free time, Mr. Bauer enjoyed building go-carts with his friends, and he made track events at his house. His family lived near the Willamette River, so they went down and played constantly.
Mr. Bauer has been at Regis High School from the very start in 1973. He has taught several classes and coached many different kinds of sports. If you are ever talking to someone who said they went to Regis for high school, they would probably know who Mr. Bauer is. Mr. Bauer has taught many parents of current students and even some grandparents. He taught and coached girls’ basketball for 27 years. He has also coached track for fifty years and started the cross country program, and has been coaching for 47 years. He coached football for three years and he helped Regis win their first championship. Overall, Mr. Bauer helped coach Regis to over ten state titles. Mr. Bauer has committed a lot of time to this school, and I know that everyone at Regis high school is very appreciative of him.
