Confirmation
By: Atziri Hernandez
Many Regis students have signed up to be confirmed and involved in the church. I had two main questions in mind before signing up for Confirmation. What is Confirmation? Why do we need it?
Confirmation is accepting the responsibility of your faith and devotion. Usually, when we are little, our parents tell us what we need to do, but in adulthood, we make our own decisions and face the consequences depending on our choices. Confirmation is almost like that. Catholics believe that the soul needs to grow in maturity in the life of grace. Like a human body growing over the years, it is the same for the soul.
We need Confirmation to finish our baptism, which sparked a relationship with God and strengthens and seals the graces that the Holy Spirit gave us. When you get confirmed, it increases more of your graces. Confirmation also gives you access to the Sacrament of Marriage and Holy Orders. The sacrament of marriage allows you to marry through the church, providing you and your partner with the grace of God. It will also assist you in living spiritually without mortal sin and being able to receive Holy Communion.
