Mr. Bauer’s Time at Regis

Mr. Bauer is a fun guy who has worked at Regis for 50 years now! He is one of the coaches for the cross country team and assists Mrs. Wiltsey as a track coach too. Mr. Bauer is willing to do just about anything to get people to run track and cross country. 

Mr. Bauer started working at Regis in 1973, at the age of 25. He was a teacher for almost all of my family. His way of getting people to participate in sports is to bribe them with money or continuously talk to them. It is because of that persistence that he has gotten many students to participate in sports. He won a few state championships in track and cross-country teams in the years he has been here. In 1987,1989, 1990, 1991, and 1994 girls won, and the boys in the years 1984 and 1985. Mr. Bauer had said how he had taught many of the students here along with their parents when they were in school. A fun fact he told me was that he taught Mrs. Stuckart and Mrs. Wiltsey.

Originally Mr. Bauer got hired here to be a football coach in his first year working here and coached it for three years along with track. He has been coaching track ever since he started working at Regis. He then went on to be the coach for cross country. At one point, Mr. Bauer and Mrs. Stuckart coached girls basketball together for 35 years. Mr. Bauer said, “ I only thought of leaving my first five years because I did not know if I could or would stay. The longer I stayed, the more I liked it here at Regis.”

 “ I cannot see any differences in this school because I have been here so long and adapted to the changes. All the students seem the same as they have always been. I like learning about whose parents are whose and seeing the similarities between them. I have liked every year that I have worked here. There was never a time when I liked one thing more than another. Every year I start over and try to do better.” Mr. Bauer has said he likes all the students here and encourages them to participate in cross country and track. Mr. Bauer quoted, “ I know almost all your parents, and I’m the only one in a position to be able to tell their differences and stories in their years at Regis.” 

Mr. Bauer has had a hugely positive effect on the atmosphere of Regis High School. He continuously encourages people doing sports to try their best and have fun doing it. Mr. Bauer is fantastic to be around, and his accomplishments should be known. It is obvious that Mr. Bauer has done a lot for this school and cares deeply for the students that come and go from Regis High School.
